オーダーを受けてからの作成となります。制作時間に3ヶ月ほどかかります。

Hanjō is a space adaptive bench designed as a functional furniture. Tatami is known to have humidity control, thermal insulation, fireproof properties, and its long term durability. Working closely with a nearby tatami craftsman, we are able to explore certain types of Igusa (Rice Straw for tatami) patterns and Washi for tatami-omote (tatami surface) while having access to the tatami workshop, we choose certain colors/ offcuts/ and deadstock materials for creating the unique bench. Further adding value to the sustainability of the bench.

半畳

畳半分の大きさが特徴の、マルチユースが可能な家具。
畳に使われるイグサは空気の通過性も良く、断熱性や保温性にも長けた優秀な素材です。
畳職人と力を合わせ、ベンチに合う表情豊かな畳面を作り出しました。
サステナブルな視点で畳工場から出た廃材を再利用する行程を考える中で、半畳の着想を得ました。
